Blogging for Income Begins With a Long Term Plan

If you are thinking that you are going to "get rich" and make a zillion dollars from a blog - forget it.

But it is a realistic target to attempt to make a couple of thousand dollars per month from a blog. Blogging for income can happen if you follow a plan.

With that kind of money you will not be able to quit your job and retire and live on a beach drinking rum. But you can generate enough income from a blog to pay off debts, start savings, and provide extra cash flow for a car payment.

Money just gives you options.

Many people dream of blogging for income, and this goal is not far beyond the reach of someone with average intelligence, a willingness to work hard, and a basic grasp of blogging technology.

John Yeo in his course Blogger's Paycheck lays out a process to follow from A to Z on how to use blogs to create a real income.

Success Means Avoiding Two Things

However, very few people manage to reap the profits they want from their blog. Most people who attempt to make money with their blogs do not succeed for two reasons:

First, having unrealistic expectations of how quickly you will get traffic to your website and how much money you will make. When these expectations are not met the disappointment can crush the desire to continue blogging.

Secondly, they pick a topic that no one cares about or in which no one is spending any money.

If you want to turn a profit as a blogger, the key to success as it is with any business, is to make a realistic plan and stick with it.

To succeed at blogging for income, the single biggest thing that you have to have is a large and loyal readership of people with stable income and credit cards. The higher your traffic from this kind of readership, the more money you will get from advertising. There is an almost one-to-one correlation between these two factors.

However, cultivating the regular visitors that you will need in order to make a profit isn't easy. And it does take work.

As more and more blogs appear each day, having a great idea or a wonderful writing style is no longer enough to get attention. You need to be able to market your blog effectively.

Set and Forget It Income?

Producing income from blogging is not "set it and forget it." You have to be able to both add orginal and usefull content to your blog and market your blog on a regular basis.

It is a common mistake among bloggers that they spend an abundance of time blogging with content but spend very little time marketing their blog.

To be certain, updating as often as you can is a great way to keep your blog high on blogrolls and high in blog search engines like technorati, and once your readers know that you update frequently they will return to your site on a regular basis.

Auto Blogging Decoded will show you how to save time creating and posting content to your blog.

However, it does not matter how often you update if nobody is reading your page, so don't skimp on the time that you spend drawing visitors to your site. Later in this website we will dicuss several methods on how to market your blog.

Of course, even if you are a marketing genius or have a really great idea for a blog, success is not going to happen overnight.

Building the kind of readership that blogging for profit requires, takes time and energy, and in all likelihood it will be at least several months before you are able to turn much of a profit.

Work Your Plan

But try to stay committed to your blogging project during this initial rough period. To stay motivated, set very specific goals for how often you will update and how many readers you want to attract, and then reward yourself for sticking with your plan.

You've heard it before, and I don't mind saying it again:

Plan your work and work your plan.

And what if you had 3, 5, or even 10 blogs, each blog averaging only $2,000 to $3,000 per month in income? At that point, you can start thinking about quiting your job and living life on the beach.

It is work. But it is doable.

And the rewards are huge.

If you want a specific blogging plan with specific details on creating a blog with a real paycheck, click here to download Blogger's Paycheck. Blogger's Paycheck won't show you how to make millions, just a real income.

If you are a beginner and new to blogging, in our next module, we will give you the basics of blogging. And why it begins in the grey matter between your ears, and not in the technology.
